This is a technical coaching role in the double handed classes with categorised state athletes at performance pathways daily training, camps and regattas. It will also monitor and support the ID and growth of future potential into the performance pathway in NSW.

There will be a travel and coordination component to this role and potentially national service in support of AST or Futures. There will be reporting processes for system learning and feedback via the performance pathways team management.

Principle Accountabilities

In alignment with the NSWIS SSPP program objectives, primary responsibilities of the NSW double handed coach include:

  • Provide on water coaching support for NSWIS SSPP athletes in the local training environment, scheduled training camps and at major state and national regattas.
  • Drive and monitor the development of NSW youth pathway classes via talent ID and direct coaching at association/AS youth events.
  • Create and action an annual of engagement including regattas (to be agreed with by NSW Lead).
  • Wear NSWIS or performance pathways uniform in relevant working environments.
  • Contribute to individual development planning and monitoring process for athletes in the NSWIS team.
  • Work with relevant AS staff to produce and action your own development planning that may involve a range of stakeholders, including NSWIS and the AIS.
  • Undertake administrative responsibilities, including season, session and regatta planning and review processes, as well as regular progress meetings.
  • Manage contract coaches for use in the double handed space where agreed with the NSW lead.
  • Undertake required logistics for the team at camps and events around your own coaching needs
  • Maintain an allocated coach boat and trailer for your own use and remain accountable for its serviceability.
  • Notify NSW Lead and Performance Pathway Lead of damage to program assets that require repair.
  • Read and understand the relevant AS policies and processes.
  • Adhere to NSWIS values and behaviours while operating within their environment.
  • Participate in regular AS Performance Pathway Team Meetings via video conference and/or in person, where required.
  • Demonstrate collaborative behaviours, professional standards and effective communication.
This is a fixed-term role.
