Due to our expanding business, Boating Syndication Australia is seeking experienced Marine Mechanic to join our team and fleet.

Working at The Spit, you will be part of a dynamic and exciting team to ensure our vessels, equipment and parts are in top operating order.

The role will be a full-time position based at The Spit in Mosman, Sydney, attending to the boats in our fleet across all our Sydney Marinas.

Your duties will include:

  • Performing preventative maintenance and servicing on engines and generators
  • Servicing and repair of engines, gearboxes and components, computer diagnostics
  • Daily/weekly checks on all systems including cycle systems and machinery
  • Communicating and liaising with suppliers and third parties for procurement of parts and services including pre-purchase inspection and water tests
  • General and specific maintenance, service and repair work of vessel fleet
  • Communication of task progress and problems to the service manager
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant Health and Safety Environmental policies and legislation and report any issues/incidents to the Operations Manager.
  • Complete required documentation, such as service worksheets and warranty claims.

The successful candidate should possess the following:

  • Trade certificate (diesel) or associated trade experience
  • Excellent communication skills and an aptitude for problem solving.
  • Previous marine mechanical experience essential
  • Experience with at least one or more of the following engines are essential – Volvo, MAN, Caterpillar, Mercury and Cummins
  • Current drivers licence (essential), boat licence (preferred).
  • Extensive experience in marine vessels including yachts, super yachts, with diesel engines
  • Knowledge of electrolysis and electrical component
  • Knowledge of marine drive trains and marine power systems
  • Must be well organised with high attention to detail
  • Ability to work unsupervised and complete jobs within allocated time frame
  • Ability to learn fast and work in tight spaces
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Reliable and punctual, with high time management and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Well-presented and physically fit
