Noakes Group seeks a qualified shipwright and / or knowledgeable boat repair person. Noakes Boatyard is based in North Sydney. The position is full time with above award wages paid to successful applicant.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Take direction from Shipwright Manager about work to be completed
- Carry out all aspect of shipwright work including timberwork and fibre-glassing, repairs, medications, custom fit-outs
- Use hand and power tools and other machinery as required
- Read and interpret plans, blueprints and specifications
- Create templates and plans for fabrication and cutting
- Carry out pre-launch testing and follow launching procedures
- Fit and install decking, masts, shafts and safety equipment
- Build and fit out cabins and install propeller supports and rudders
- Track your time through time clock and other monitoring systems
- Report to Shipwright Manager on a regular basis regarding progress and quality of work
- Ensure all work areas are left clean at the end of each day, and company equipment is maintained as required
- Adherence to company policies and procedures, including but not limited to OHS and quality procedures
Skills and Experience Required:
- Qualified Shipwright
- Prior experience in a related role and/or marine industry experience
- Demonstrated ability to follow company procedures
- Demonstrated ability to complete jobs in a timely manner and to Noakes quality standards
- Good communication skills
- Highly motivated with a professional work ethic
- Ready to handle busy periods and work autonomously and as part of a team
