Trial program provides public berthing boost

The Victorian Government is providing free public berthing at three marinas in Port Phillip during the busy Christmas-Easter period, allowing boaters to moor their vessels and enjoy using additional destination berths.

A trial of free public berthing funded through the reinvestment of boaters’ registration and licensing fees will allow more boats to be moored around Port Phillip at the busiest times of year.

The trial has been made possible by the Government’s investment into boating and the Better Boating Fund, which is returning boaters’ registration and licencing fees into projects and programs to make boating even better.

The berths will be available at Sandringham Yacht Club, Royal Geelong Yacht Club and Wyndham Harbour. Boaters will need to book the dedicated berths directly with the marinas.

Berths can be booked for a maximum of 24 hours, to encourage access for as many boaters as possible across the duration of the trial. Only one booking can be made within a 14-day period.

The trial will run from 9 December, 2021 until 30 April, 2022.
