Entries Open for Nautilus Marine Insurance 2023 Marina of the Year Awards

Marinas and marine businesses are invited to enter the biennial Nautilus Marine Insurance Marina of the Year Awards (MOTYA).

MOTYA recognises excellence and leadership in the marina industry and presents important benchmarks for the industry and wider community. The prestigious awards provide finalists and winners with exceptional promotional and marketing opportunities.

Entries close on 10 February, 2023, with the award submissions closing on 15 March, 2023.

The winners will be announced at the awards dinner at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia on 23 May, 2023.

Marinas and marine businesses in New Zealand, the Asia-Pacific and Middle East are eligible to enter four out of the 10 award categories.

Following the success of the 2021 MOTYA, MIA CEO Suzanne Davies said she looks forward to once again celebrating the success stories of the marina industry.

“I am astounded by the increase of quality put on display by marinas and marina businesses, whether that be the facilities, new innovations, customer service, and so on,” Davies said. “With such a strong calibre of submissions for the 2021 awards, if my observations are anything to go by, I am sure that the 2023 MOTYA entries will be just as impressive, if not more.”

The marina industry has undergone a myriad of changes since the awards were launched in 2000. According to Davies, with the growing popularity of boating, many marinas and boat yards have expanded facilities as a result. And because of the global move to environmental conservation, more environmentally friendly practices have been implemented in the marina realm.

“I look forward to seeing how the submissions reflect the current global situation,” Davies said.

Entrants are encouraged to reflect on their business direction, plans, strategies, innovations, and outcomes and must document them in a succinct presentation for the judges’ consideration.

All submissions will be assessed by a panel of judges and mystery shops will also be undertaken to validate the service levels. Those that progress to the category finals will then be assessed with a site visit (this does not include the international MOTYA finalists).

2023 MOTYA is sponsored by the MIA’s Insurance Partner, Nautilus Marine Insurance – the leading insurer of recreational vessels and marine business assets across Australia and New Zealand. Lyndon Turner, CEO of Nautilus Marine Insurance said, “The Nautilus Marine team is proud to be a part of these awards which celebrate marinas and marine businesses that represent industry excellence.”
