AMSA Fees & Charges

The Independent Panel reviewing Australia’s Domestic Commercial Vessel (DCV) Safety Legislation and Costs and Charging Arrangements will be attending locations around the country to meet and hear from interested stakeholders.

The BIA say that “there are opportunities to meet the panel and relay your views on Phase 2 of the Review which is considering the delivery costs and future funding options for the National System for DCV Safety”.

There will also be an opportunity to raise questions on their Phase 1 Draft Interim Safety Report that can be viewed at the link.

The Panel will be at the following locations. To participate, register using the following links:

Adelaide – Thursday 16 February
Port Lincoln – Friday 17 February
Darwin – Tuesday 21 February

The BIA say that they have “asked AMSA for other locations and updates to the list will be provided in future (of their) E-News. At this stage we can only advise the panel will be in WA and NSW in March, with details to follow”.

BIA say that it is concerned AMSA and the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communication and the Arts will aim to increase fees and charges under the banner of cost recovery. However, BIA is of the view that, in general, the principle of cost recovery is not something which should be applied to a safety outcome.

Those that would like to meet with the Panel but are unable to attend these meetings, are asked to contact the Review Secretariat at
