An Australian Tribute and Farewell will be held for Barry Thompson on Friday October 6.
The family and friends of the late, great, legendary, though characteristically very humble Kiwi marine journalist, father, husband, world powerboat racing champion and Hutchwilco NZ Boating Hall of Famer, Barry Thompson invite fellow journalists and marine industry identities and friends to a special Australian Tribute and Farewell.
Barry left us far too soon and the wake will be a celebration of his life, generosity, wit and great humour. Let’s all toast our fallen friend as he would have wanted: with a glass of Kraken on the rocks, accompanied by many laughs and fond memories of a great bloke and mate.
Husband to Soraja, father to Carl, Mitchell and Travis, business partner and mate of Doug and Carla – and mentor to so many, we’ll all miss you at the bar mate.
VENUE: Stanley’s Bar and Restaurant, the Gold Coast Motor Museum, hosts Carl and Grant Amor.
DATE & TIME: Friday, October 6. Midday for 1pm lunch and drinks. There will be a limited pre-lunch drinks bar tab available. Cash bar and lunch. Venue closes at 10pm.
DRESS: Strictly casual (BT wouldn’t have approved of formal).
