Sometimes You Just Must Stop and Look
I have the privilege in this job to see some truly magnificent vessels. Occasionally, one stops me in my tracks—and I find myself returning again and again for another look.
SIMENA is one of those vessels. She is, without question, one of the most beautiful pieces of art I’ve seen in a long time. I say art because she is a thing of beauty, from start to finish. We have included a link to a comprehensive image library for you to view. Click on the banner below.
She is a 203-foot ketch-rigged sailing superyacht, built by ARES Yachts and set to make her public debut at the 2025 Monaco Yacht Show with Northrop & Johnson.
Designed by Tanju Kalaycıoğlu (Taka Yacht Design), SIMENA is a striking addition to the global fleet—and a standout candidate for one of 2025’s most exciting new launches.
The 203’ (62m) ARES superyacht SIMENA is a brand-new build scheduled to set sail in September 2025. She represents the pinnacle of modern yacht design, blending traditional sailing elements with contemporary innovation, and is poised to redefine luxury cruising for years to come.
With meticulous attention to detail and a deep commitment to excellence, ARES Shipyard has created a vessel that not only exceeds industry expectations but establishes a new benchmark for performance, comfort, and style. From her sleek lines to her state-of-the-art systems, every element of SIMENA has been crafted for a discerning owner.
At the core of SIMENA’s design is an emphasis on performance luxury cruising. As a ketch, she fuses the grace of traditional sailing with advanced technologies to offer a sailing experience unlike any other. Capable of cruising at 11 knots and reaching a top speed of 14.5 knots, SIMENA delivers transatlantic range even without her sails—making her ideal for discovering the world’s most remote destinations in comfort and elegance.
What makes SIMENA truly newsworthy beyond her scale and elegance?
- Largest Composite Superstructure of Its Kind
SIMENA’s composite (carbon and GRP) superstructure—believed to be the largest ever built for a yacht of this class—provides exceptional strength and agility. Her sleek hull glides effortlessly through the water, ensuring a smooth and stable ride in all conditions. - Interior Design That Channels Vintage with Modern Discipline
Her interiors, by the award-winning studio Design Unlimited, are a triumph of craftsmanship and restraint. A calming, neutral palette features tactile woven metals, leathers, stones, and soft furnishings. Walnut serves as the foundation, complemented by unique elements such as antiqued brass and textured leather. - A Blueprint for Environmental Responsibility in Yachting
In an industry often slow to adopt change, SIMENA sets a new precedent. With hybrid propulsion and onboard systems that regenerate electricity under sail, she leads the way in sustainable cruising—without sacrificing comfort or speed. A true “quiet luxury” vessel, elevated by purpose.
Currently undergoing final sea trials, SIMENA will make her public debut at the Monaco Yacht Show this September. She is offered for sale at €45.9M through Northrop & Johnson yacht broker Sean McCarter.
