The Gustave Trouvé Awards for Excellence in Electric Boats and Boating, “The Gussies”, have entered the public voting phase for their sixth annual edition. An international judging panel selected 46 finalists from 122 nominated electric boats across nine categories, showcasing the rapid innovation and global momentum of zero-emission boating.

Members of the public are invited to cast their votes online through November 16 at midnight EST at: https://plugboats.com/gussies-voting-2025
This year’s finalists show the full spectrum of what electric propulsion can offer: ferry fleets reducing emissions in busy waterways, solar-powered cruising yachts, fun personal water toys, foilers pushing performance boundaries, and hydrogen vessels pointing toward our future. Boats from over 20 countries are represented.
“What’s truly exciting is seeing this incredible variety of electric boats from all over the world,” said Jeff Butler, Founder of The Gussies. “The ingenuity is remarkable, and the design quality matches the innovation. This industry is growing fast, and The Gussies capture that momentum better than anything else out there.”
Winners will be decided by a combination of public voting and weighted votes from the international judging panel and will be announced the week of November 18, 2025.
The Gussies remain the world’s only awards dedicated exclusively to electric boats, honouring the innovators, designers, engineers, and early adopters driving the transition to clean, quiet propulsion on the water. The categories for 2025 are:
- Electric Boats Up to 8 m (26 ft)
 - Electric Boats Over 8 m (26 ft)
 - Electric Sailboats
 - Retrofitted / Customised Electric Boats
 - Electric Workboats

1928 Herreshoff Launch
This launch was originally built in 1928 to at the end of Nathanial Herreshoff’s storied carreer to accompany ‘Enterprise’ for the 1930 America’s Cup. Originally designed for a steam engine, later fitted with a 12 hp gasoline motor, Nova Luxe Yachts was contracted for the electric refit. A 4kw WaterWorld inboard motor and a single 6.8kwh battery was installed, the 12v battery replaced with a step-down transformer. The Aesthetic of the boat was extremely important and the new age display was hidden behind mahogany and the throttle was modified to match original aesthetics.
