Vessev has officially unveiled its latest model, the VS–9 Skye, a fully electric hydrofoiling day boat that promises to revolutionise the way we experience life on the water.

By combining advanced technology with modern, award-winning design, the Skye offers a ride that’s smoother, quieter, and more efficient than anything else on the market.
“With the Skye, we’ve reimagined what a day boat can be,” said Eric Laakmann, co-founder and CEO of Vessev. “It’s not just about going electric, it’s about creating a better experience for boaters. We want to give them something truly innovative that’s going to turn heads.”

The U.S. powerboat market remains robust, with an estimated 240,000 new powerboats sold in 2024 alone. Despite this scale, the boating experience has remained the same for decades, with heavy fuel consumption, bumpy rides, and layouts that have remained largely unchanged.
“The VS–9 Skye changes this by using hydrofoils to lift it above the water, reducing drag and delivering a smooth ride, even in rough weather,” said Laakmann. “It’s a boat that everyone can enjoy more, because it’s just that much more comfortable.”
The technology significantly enhances efficiency, allowing the Skye to consume the same energy at 25 knots as it does at 5 knots, with a range of up to 50 nautical miles. Electric boaters can now explore further, enjoy longer days on the water, and charge easily at their destination using standard shore power.

Retractable hydrofoils make it easy to beach the boat or navigate shallow waters, giving boaters the freedom to drop anchor, settle in, and let the party unfold.
The Skye’s design is as thoughtful as its technology. With a stable and spacious catamaran hull, it comfortably accommodates up to 10 passengers. The deck is divided into three distinct zones: a large daybed midship, bowrider seating at the front, and an aft lounging area with a generous table for meals and gatherings.
“Every detail has been considered to enhance fun and freedom on the water,” said Paul Flett, Vessev’s Head of Vessels. “We designed it to be a space where everyone can connect and have a great time.”
“Our design philosophy is to keep things beautifully simple. We use smooth angles, continuous lines, and a clean, uncluttered aesthetic to keep the hydrofoiling technology at the centre of attention,” said Flett.

The Skye builds on the proven design of the award-winning VS–9 platform, which has logged over 7,000 nautical miles of operation. Vessev’s team, which includes experts from the America’s Cup, Rocket Lab, Apple, and Tesla, is on a mission to reimagine how the world moves on the water.
Vessev is scaling production to meet global demand, with the first deliveries of the VS–9 Skye expected in 2027. Reservations are open at vessev.com.
