Ex-Tropical Cyclone Koji
This month, communities across Queensland have and continue to experience the impacts of ex-Tropical Cyclone Koji. Severe weather affected coastal areas, while damaging winds and flooding were felt across inland communities.
While the safety of our volunteers always remains our top priority, several MRQ units were called upon to support the boating public in their local areas. This included MRQ Mackay, which assisted a vessel in difficulty on the Pioneer River during the declared disaster.

Coxswain Training
Volunteers from across Queensland came together last week at MRQ Sandgate for an intensive training session in support of their coxswain certification.
This training, which supports nationally recognised marine qualifications, combined hands-on experience with classroom learning — equipping our crews with the skills, knowledge and confidence to operate safely and effectively at this level.
Connect Forum
Earlier this month, MRQ welcomed volunteers from across the state to the Connect Forum, held both in person at MRQ Bribie Island and online.
These forums provide a valuable opportunity to connect, share updates from across Queensland, and keep volunteers informed on a range of important topics.
A big thank you to the team at Marine Rescue Bribie Island for hosting this important forum.
