The Axopar 38 sets a new gold standard in customisable, social – performance-focused boating
The launch of the Axopar 38 represents a measured evolution in adventure boating. Revealed at the Düsseldorf Boat Show, the new 38 builds on the qualities that have defined Axopar from the start: hulls designed for real-world performance, usability, and freedom on the water. Rather than reinventing the platform, the 38 refines and expands it, responding to more than a decade and thousands of owner experiences across Europe, Australia, and beyond.

A platform designed from the waterline up
At its heart, the Axopar 38 is a cohesive, fully engineered platform. Balance, stability, and efficiency guided every design decision. The hull, developed by renowned naval architect Jarkko Jämsén, follows a waterline-first philosophy that has shaped every Axopar since inception in 2014.
“Many hulls may appear similar visually, but the reasoning behind their design is often misunderstood. Execution is where the real difference lies,” says Jämsén.
The result is a boat that feels composed and predictable in a wide range of conditions, whether underway or at rest. Twin-stepped 20-degree V-hull geometry, combined with an overbuilt stringer system, improves rigidity and reduces flex. An advanced sound-insulating construction has been added and rigorously tested, lowering hull sound frequencies by up to 10 dB, contributing to a calmer, quieter onboard environment.

Significantly lighter than many comparable boats in its class, the Axopar 38 benefits from improved responsiveness, efficiency, and seakeeping, without compromising structural strength.
Jan-Erik Viitala, Axopar Founding Partner, Chief Creative and Innovation Officer notes: “Drivability, handling, and adaptability to changing sea states are always the priority. Every detail in the Axopar 38 is designed to help owners move safely and confidently in any season, at any time of day. The amount of work that has gone into the Axopar 38 to achieve this is something most people will never see.”
Performance that matters
Despite a more spacious layout, the Axopar 38 remains performance-focused – performance through water equates to on water comfort, which is paramount in boating in Australian and New Zealand waters. Twin outboard configurations provide confident acceleration and top speeds exceeding 48 knots, while maintaining predictable handling and excellent fuel economy.

Early testing shows a hull that inspires well seated confidence, behaving consistently when pushed, reflecting the brand’s longstanding balance of performance and security.
Space where it makes a difference
The slightly longer hull and wider beam allow meaningful gains in usable space. Forward cabins now offer increased headroom and beam, closer in feel to larger models. Owners can select an enclosed toilet with standing-height shower, galley or pantry modules, and flexible seating (forward facing for 8 inside) that converts into a generous sleeping area – all without compromising the open deck above.

Pilothouse designed for real use
Ergonomics support both experienced and new skippers, with critical controls placed intuitively at the helm. Improved sightlines, natural light, and ventilation make the pilothouse functional, comfortable, and inviting.
A new aft opening window connects the interior with the aft deck, creating a social space at anchor while maintaining protection underway. Flexible seating allows up to four people to sleep on board without requiring a full aft cabin.

Versatility without compromise
Versatility is embedded throughout the design. Forward, owners can choose between U-shaped seating with a hi-lo table, lounge-style layouts, or dedicated sunpads – all with deep storage beneath.
Aft, layouts range from an open working deck to bench seating with integrated storage, a wet bar for entertaining, or a full aft cabin for extended cruising. Swim ladders, ski poles, and rod holders enhance usability for watersports and fishing, while larger platforms make boarding, diving, and tender access easier.

Reliable, functional activity platforms
Fold-down activity platforms are positioned higher above the waterline to reduce wash impact and remain usable in blustery anchorage conditions. Rated to a theoretical load of up to three tonnes, they rely on simple, robust hinge and friction systems rather than complex actuators, prioritising strength, durability, low maintenance and long-term reliability.

Local relevance
The Axopar 38 made its global debut in Düsseldorf and is expected to resonate strongly in Australia and New Zealand with boaters seeking a genuine all-weather platform capable of coastal runs, offshore passages, and social days on the water.
Eyachts is the exclusive regional representative. Russell Ayers remarks: “Seeing the 38 in person highlights how much space and adaptability have been designed in. It feels familiar yet more refined, liveable and complete. For Australian boaters, the combination of offshore confidence, flexible layouts, and genuine comfort is exactly what people have been asking for.”
A model that sets a reference point
More than a replacement for a previous model, the Axopar 38 signals the next stage in this sector of boating. By combining customisation freedom, refined comfort, and uncompromising performance, it reinforces Axopar’s position as a thoughtful, innovation-led builder.
The first Australian example of the Axopar 38 XC is scheduled for the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show 2026, offering a first opportunity to experience what is already being regarded as a gold standard in modern boating.
