The 2026 Sydney edition of the Chief Stewardess Interior Crew and Industry Networking Luncheon was held on Tuesday 17 March at Bar Conte in Sydney’s CBD.

Unanimously described as “the best yet”, the event continues to cement its position as one of the most elegant and meaningful gatherings for superyacht Chief Stewards and Stewardesses, Heads of Interior and the industry professionals who support them.
This year welcomed 33 guests representing 25 superyachts – both privately owned and charter – alongside event sponsors and superyacht media. Beyond recognising the talent and dedication of interior crew, the luncheon fosters stronger relationships within what remains a tight yet steadily expanding local industry.
“The lunch aims to bring these amazing people together in a relaxed atmosphere to network, share ideas and raise the profile of their roles,” said Duncan Curnow, event organiser and Director of Quality Marine Clothing.
“Interior crew are experts in impeccable service, and the superyacht lifestyle can be quite isolating. It’s important to create opportunities to step off the vessel, enjoy a beautiful setting and connect with others who understand both the challenges and rewards of the role.”

Throughout the afternoon, guests spoke candidly about their experiences both locally and abroad – offering guidance to newer crew while discussing emerging opportunities and preparations for the upcoming charter season.
The setting was Bar Conte’s intimate ‘Negroni Room’, where guests relaxed, laughed and exchanged stories from life on board.
Reflecting the calibre of interior talent in attendance, Analu elevated the space with curated table styling, complemented by vibrant floral arrangements from Saskia at Grandiflora, adding colour and texture to the refined setting.
The menu followed suit. Pre-lunch cocktails – including Aperol Spritz, Negroni and Espresso Martinis – were followed by a three-course shared menu designed for indulgence. Known for their expertise in service, many of the stews noted the novelty of being served for a change.
Entrées featured freshly shucked oysters, wagyu and tuna tartare, setting the tone for a refined culinary experience. Mains showcased premium local produce, including pappardelle with lamb ragu and T-bone Riverine steak, followed by a Negroni tiramisu, paired with Italian wines and, of course, a few more cocktails.

Four sponsors supported the luncheon this year, adding further depth to the discussions through their industry insight.
Quality Marine Clothing returned, with Duncan Curnow also acting as MC, entertaining guests with light-hearted quiz moments throughout the afternoon. Analu Interiors Director Angela Burlizzi joined for the first time, sharing her expertise in interior design and styling.
Travelling from Cairns, Angela Pennefather of Melanesian Yachts provided insights into navigating some of the region’s most remote and pristine cruising grounds. Guests were also joined by Mischa Pugastchew of Pacific Provisions, contributing valuable operational perspectives.
Feedback following the event has been overwhelmingly positive.
India Lewin of M/Y Lumir, a 38-metre Heesen motor yacht, attended her second luncheon and noted the continued growth of the event.
“I had a fantastic time – the room, the atmosphere and the meal were all exceptional. We exchanged contacts which will be incredibly valuable and had great discussions around boat shows and the upcoming season.”
Prior to her current role as First Stewardess aboard a privately owned motor yacht entering the charter market, Lewin worked in Turkey as a sole stewardess on a charter vessel.
“We usually spend summer in Sydney, then head to the Whitsundays in winter. I’m happy to keep chasing the sun – the scenery and lifestyle up there are incredible.”
Zulekha Longdin, First Stewardess aboard the 47-metre M/Y Crystal Lady – the largest yacht represented on the day – also returned for a second year.

“Wow – a perfectly balanced lunch with great food, flowing cocktails and a room full of strong personalities,” said first-time attendee Paige Wyllie from the 30-metre Moonen M.V. Belle. “Quality Marine Clothing and the sponsors made it extra special, sharing their industry knowledge. I felt welcomed from the moment I arrived – from the first drink through to the departing goodie bag. Thank you for creating such memorable moments. I look forward to seeing how you outdo yourselves next year.”
Also travelling from Cairns were Emily Aldred, Chief Stewardess and COO, and Kate Hawkins of M.V. Northern Escape, a 40-metre Benetti Oasis. As first-time attendees, they were impressed by both the venue and the calibre of the guest list.
“I enjoy attending this lunch every year,” said Hillary Buckman, Managing Director of Ocean Media. “It’s a valuable opportunity to connect with leading Chief Stews and meet the next generation of stewardesses entering the industry – sharing knowledge and strengthening connections. They are the backbone of every superyacht and certainly give the Captain’s Long Lunch a good run for its money.”

With such strong feedback and growing industry support, the future of the Chief Stewardess Luncheon looks assured, with further events already anticipated in the years ahead.
