Australian luxury motor yacht builder celebrates the next generation of skilled tradespeople through its Academy of Excellence and Propel programs.
Eleven young apprentices have graduated from Riviera Australia’s acclaimed Academy of Excellence, marking an important milestone in their careers and reinforcing Riviera’s commitment to developing the next generation of marine industry craftspeople.
The graduates were recognised during a special celebration at Riviera’s exclusive Yacht Club on the Gold Coast, where mentors, trainers and company leaders gathered to honour their achievements.
Addressing the graduates, Riviera Australia owner Rodney Longhurst praised their dedication and encouraged them to continue building on the skills, confidence and work ethic they have developed throughout their apprenticeships.
“You are advancing your skills, your confidence and your belief in yourselves,” said Mr Longhurst.
“This is a significant achievement, but it is also the beginning of an exciting journey of learning and growth. Stay focused, keep developing and more opportunities will come.”
The graduates completed nationally recognised Certificate III qualifications across electrotechnology, marine craft construction, composite technologies, machining and mechanical trades, acquiring specialist skills that contribute to the construction of Riviera’s luxury motor yachts.
Among the graduates was Benjamin Griffiths, who completed a Certificate III in Electrotechnology after beginning his journey as a school-based apprentice.
“I quickly discovered I enjoy problem-solving and working with advanced electrical systems,” said Benjamin. “Riviera has given me the opportunity to build valuable skills and develop a career in an industry I enjoy.”
Shayla Mulcahy, who graduated as a qualified Timber and Composites Machinist, said the experience had opened exciting career opportunities.
“I am looking forward to continuing to learn and working with new technologies that help improve the way we build our Riviera yachts,” she said.
Riviera’s apprenticeship program is complemented by its unique Propel initiative, a four-year personal development program that runs alongside vocational training and focuses on leadership, communication, personal growth and outlook.
Apprentice and Training Manager Keira Badke congratulated the graduates on reaching an important career milestone.
“The skills you have developed and the challenges you have overcome have brought you to this achievement. You should all be incredibly proud.”
Since 1993, Riviera’s Academy of Excellence has helped develop over 400 highly skilled marine industry professionals, creating rewarding career pathways while supporting the continued growth of Australia’s marine manufacturing sector.
As these 11 graduates begin the next chapter of their careers, they join a proud legacy of Riviera craftspeople whose expertise, passion and commitment to excellence help create some of the world’s finest luxury motor yachts.
