Resurfacing and improvement works will soon begin at the Toolara boat ramp, delivering a safer, more reliable and fit-for-purpose facility for recreational boaties.
The project will ensure the boat ramp meets the needs of local boaties, anglers and visitors into the future.
Works include reconstructing and resurfacing the existing single-lane ramp and extending it to improve launching and retrieval across a wider range of tidal conditions.
The upgrades will improve safety, ramp performance, reliability and accessibility, while supporting the Tin Can Bay boating and fishing communities, as well as tourism.
Located on Teewah Creek south of Tin Can Bay, Toolara boat ramp is an important access point for the local boating and fishing community.
Construction is planned to start in early October 2026, after the school holiday period, and be completed by late November 2026, weather and site conditions permitting.
The ramp will close for the duration of works to support public safety and efficient construction. Alternative launching facilities are available at Snapper Creek Boat Harbour, four kilometres north of Toolara boat ramp.
The project is part of the Queensland Government’s ongoing program to maintain and improve boating infrastructure across the state.
A Notice to Mariners will be issued closer to the start date.
