Straddle Carrier Operation and Maintenance Course

Due to strong demand, the MIA has added one more Straddle Carrier Operation and Maintenance (SCOM) course to the 2026 Education Calendar. This will be the final SCOM course for 2026.
The two-day course is hosted at d’Albora Pacific Point Marina, Queensland. It covers the safe operation and maintenance of straddle carriers in a working boatyard, through a mix of theory and hands-on practical sessions.

Time: 8.30 am – 4.30 pm each day
Cost: $1,900 (MIA Members) $2250 (non-member) + GST per person

Dock Operations Course

Do you have staff with 1–3 years under their belt who are ready for more responsibility?
The Dock Operations Course is MIA’s two-day professional development program for marina staff moving beyond the basics and starting to consider a supervisory or team leadership role.
It bridges the gap between the Dock Hand Course and the Intermediate Marina Management Course, giving participants a deeper understanding of operations, business functions and emergency preparedness, plus valuable time with peers from across the industry.
The course combines presentations from leading industry professionals with a study tour of local marinas, giving participants first-hand insight into how other facilities operate, plus a networking dinner.
Who Should Attend?
- Dockhands and marina staff with 1–3 years of experience
- Emerging leaders and future supervisors
- Team members preparing for the IMM pathway.
