Bering Yachts has presented the latest sea trial of the Bering 88, an explorer yacht built for long-range, all-weather cruising. In a video recently released on the Bering Yachts YouTube channel, the vessel demonstrates her quiet power, ocean-going capability, and top-tier construction in a real open-water test.
Crafted for serious voyaging, the Bering 88 features a full-displacement steel hull and aluminium superstructure, emphasising strength and safety. She is powered by twin Cummins QSM11 – 450 HP engines, offering a cruising speed of 8.5 knots and a maximum speed of 10.5 knots. With a fuel capacity of 39,755 litres and a range exceeding 5,000 nautical miles at cruising speed, the Bering 88 allows owners to cross oceans without refuelling.
The video also offers a closer look at the yacht’s advanced systems and engineering. Captain Fırat provides a detailed walkthrough of the console on the bridge, demonstrating all the equipment, including the radar, navigation displays, autopilot, engine monitors, chart plotters, and communication systems. These systems ensure the vessel’s precision, safety, and ease of handling during long passages.
Descending into the engine room, the captain showcases the complexity and robustness of the yacht’s technical systems. Viewers are introduced to the twin Cummins main engines, two generators, hydraulic systems, fuel filtration units, fire suppression systems, and other key components. The layout highlights easy access for maintenance and redundancy for critical operations — all hallmarks of Bering’s commitment to reliability and offshore readiness.
