Emergency services responded to an incident off the coast of Christies Beach, south of Adelaide, just before 11am on Sunday 20 July, after reports that a boat had capsized approximately one kilometre from shore, leaving five people in the water.
Surf Life Saving SA promptly launched a rescue vessel, successfully recovering all five occupants. A police helicopter and the SA Sea Rescue Squadron also assisted in the operation.
All five individuals were taken to hospital. According to SA Health, two were in critical condition while the other three were stable. One patient has since been discharged.
