Incat Recognised as Global Leader in Sustainable Shipbuilding

Incat Tasmania has won the Sustainability and Green Economy Award at the 2025 Tasmanian Export Awards, recognising the company’s leadership in sustainable shipbuilding.

The award celebrates businesses demonstrating outstanding innovation and impact in advancing sustainable practices. For Incat, it reflects both the company’s global role in aluminium shipbuilding and the production pipeline of large electric and hybrid-electric ferries currently underway at its Hobart shipyard – the world’s most advanced aluminium electric shipbuilding program.

“This award is a tribute to the spirit of innovation that has always defined Incat, and to the dedication of our entire workforce,” said Incat CEO Stephen Casey. “It also shows our customers and partners that Incat is being recognised for the direction we’re taking – delivering the cleaner, greener ships that the world is demanding.”

With multiple low-emission vessels under construction and a strong pipeline ahead, Incat is positioning Tasmania as a centre of excellence for sustainable shipbuilding on the global stage.
