Last year, Nautilus Marine Insurance celebrated its 20th anniversary. In 2026, there are no signs of it slowing down.
When the business entered the market in 2005, Australia’s typically cautious marine industry watched with interest to see what might follow. Nautilus Marine Insurance picked its lane, focused on the boating sector, and over the years made significant inroads into both the recreational boat insurance and commercial marine insurance markets.
Many people may not be aware that the same formula, specialist knowledge and disciplined approach to business that define Nautilus Marine Insurance have been applied over the past decade to build a stable of seven specialist insurance brands under the NM Insurance group portfolio. NM Insurance now provides specialist insurance solutions for the marine, motorcycling, motorhome, caravanning and cargo markets across Australia and New Zealand.
With south-east Queensland abuzz with marine industry events this week, it was not difficult to cross paths with the Nautilus Marine Insurance team. The team has been energised and excited to engage with the marine industry, bringing a strong sense of purpose as Nautilus Marine Insurance prepares to unveil the next chapter in its ongoing growth.
As the Official Insurance Partner of the Marina Industries Association (MIA), Nautilus Marine Insurance is introducing a refreshed logo and new brand identity at Marinas26, supported by the tagline: Anchored in experience. Trusted by experts.

The new positioning coincides with the company’s 21st anniversary and reflects the role experience continues to play across the organisation. From the team’s deep understanding of boating and marine risk to the company’s long-standing presence in the industry, the refreshed identity reinforces Nautilus Marine Insurance’s position as a specialist provider trusted by marine industry professionals, boat owners and insurance brokers.
The brand evolution also comes as Nautilus Marine Insurance continues to strengthen its team and expand its commercial capability.
Ean Newbold has recently joined the business in the newly created role of Commercial Development Manager. Bringing more than 30 years’ experience in the insurance industry, Ean’s appointment adds further depth to the company’s commercial relationships and industry engagement at a time of continued opportunity across the marine sector.

Ean attended Marinas26 alongside NM Insurance CEO and MD Lyndon Turner, and David Seckhold.
David joined Nautilus Marine Insurance in November last year as Senior Portfolio, Underwriting and Product Manager, and leads the company’s industry lines team.
That area of the business provides insurance solutions for marinas, yacht clubs, boat dealerships, marine trades and other commercial marine operations.
The team has been further strengthened by the appointment of James Meggison as Senior Marine Underwriter, a role that supports continued growth across both the commercial marine insurance and boat insurance markets.
For Lyndon Turner, the current momentum reflects both confidence in the business and a clear commitment to the marine sector.
We’re anchored in that experience, with a team that truly understands the marine industry.
Our refreshed brand identity reflects who we are today and where we are heading, as we continue to invest in our people, capabilities and industry partnerships.”
- NM Insurance CEO and MD Lyndon TurnerWith a refreshed identity, new appointments and an expanding industry lines capability, Nautilus Marine Insurance appears well positioned for its next phase. After more than two decades in market, the business is not simply celebrating its history. It is actively building on it.

In converstaion with Ean, he said:

Ean Newbold
You have recently joined Nautilus Marine Insurance in the newly created role of Commercial Development Manager. What attracted you to the business and to this opportunity?
Nautilus Marine Insurance has a strong and long-standing presence within the marine industry, and the opportunity to support the continued growth of the Nautilus Marine Insurance brand across its many touchpoints within the marine community was a key factor in attracting me to the role.
With more than 30 years’ experience in insurance, what do you see as the key challenges and opportunities currently facing the marine insurance sector?
Financial uncertainty is placing pressure on the economy and impacting consumer confidence.
In response, it is essential that we continue to deliver high-quality insurance solutions supported by strong service standards, ensuring customers receive genuine value and confidence in their cover.
How do you expect your role to support Nautilus Marine Insurance’s growth across commercial marine and broader industry relationships?
My role will focus on strengthening existing partnerships, building new market connections, and identifying growth opportunities across the marine sector for the Nautilus Marine Insurance product range. I also look forward to further enhancing collaboration across the broader marine industry to support sustainable long-term growth.
You will be attending Marinas26 with the Nautilus Marine Insurance team. What conversations are you most looking forward to having with marina operators, yacht clubs, dealers, and marine businesses?
I am looking forward to learning more about their businesses and gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges they face from a risk and insurance perspective. From there, we can work closely with their insurance brokers to conduct comprehensive reviews of their insurance arrangements and help ensure appropriate cover is in place to meet their operational needs.
In conversation with Lyndon, he said:
Nautilus Marine Insurance is marking its 21st anniversary in 2026. How would you describe the company’s evolution since entering the market in 2005?
How much time do I have? In 2005, we started with a strategy to offer premium coverage and service at competitive rates, and that hasn’t changed as we’ve grown over the last two decades. Underpinning our success has been our highly engaged and professional teams across Australia and New Zealand, who have continued to drive strong customer outcomes through market and industry changes and shifts in boat ownership and usage. While insurance risk continues to evolve, our focus remains on Australia and New Zealand, delivering outstanding outcomes for the thousands of boat owners and marine industry members who trust us to meet their insurance needs.
The new tagline is “Anchored in experience. Trusted by experts.” What does that positioning say about where Nautilus Marine Insurance sits in the market today?
It reflects who we are, how we act and how we are respected within the industry. We’re proud to be the expert’s choice in marine insurance amongst boat owners, marine industry members and insurance brokers, with thousands of customers across Australia and New Zealand choosing us every year for renewals and new policies. The depth of expertise across our business, the breadth of coverage we offer, and our responsive and transparent claims support are all widely acknowledged across the waterfront.
The team has recently added Ean Newbold, David Seckhold and James Meggison. What do these appointments signal about Nautilus Marine Insurance’s future direction?
All three come with fantastic experience, and I’m glad they’ve chosen us to further their careers. Our culture drives outcomes, and we focus on bringing the right people into the business who align to our strategy. I’m already seeing strong outcomes, and their appointments add to the depth of talent and expertise we already have within our 100-plus strong team. I look forward to hearing positive feedback from the market as we continue to roll out our strategy.
You have indicated there are further developments on the horizon later this year. Without making formal announcements, what can the industry expect from Nautilus Marine Insurance over the next phase of growth?
We have never been static, and the next stage of growth, which will be good for Nautilus Marine, our partners and our customers, is an exciting one. It is underpinned by our strong, established customer base, supported by the expertise of our people and trusted partners. When we bring these updates to market, I hope they are embraced in the same way as our previous initiatives.
