RMYC Broken Bay marks 100 years with renewed waterfront clubhouse

The Royal Motor Yacht Club Broken Bay will mark a major milestone this weekend, with the Official Opening of its transformed clubhouse on 20 June 2026 forming a centrepiece of the Club’s centenary year.

In 2026, RMYC Broken Bay celebrates 100 years on the water, a century shaped by boating, friendship, family, cruising, racing, fishing and the enduring appeal of Pittwater. The milestone is one few clubs are privileged to reach, and for RMYC Broken Bay it is being marked not only by reflection, but by renewed investment in the future.

Established in 1926, the Club has grown from its early foundations into one of Australia’s recognised yacht clubs and a significant part of the Pittwater boating community. From its Newport base, with views across Scotland Island and the surrounding waterways, RMYC Broken Bay has long been a gathering place for boat owners, families, social members and visitors drawn to the region’s distinctive boating lifestyle.

The Official Opening will unveil a series of major renovations designed to honour the Club’s heritage while enhancing the experience for current and future generations of members. The works include a new waterfront rooftop and dining experience with panoramic views over Pittwater, refreshed social and lounge spaces, contemporary function rooms, enhanced accessibility and new family-focused facilities.

A purpose-built wellness centre has also been added, featuring group fitness classes, sauna facilities, free weights and private consultation rooms. The broader redevelopment includes a resort-style pool area, children’s playground and improved amenities, strengthening the Club’s role as both a boating hub and a year-round social destination.

For the recreational marine industry, the centenary is a reminder of the importance of clubs such as RMYC Broken Bay in sustaining participation, community and connection around boating. The Club’s marina remains central to that role, supporting boat owners through berths, moorings, tender services, fuel, on-water services, boat ramp access and marine support facilities.

The centenary program will continue well beyond this weekend’s opening. On 25 July 2026, the Club will host its Centenary Ball, bringing members together for an elegant evening of celebration, music, memories and fireworks. In October, the Club’s heritage will again take centre stage with a Boat Parade on 10 October, tracing a flotilla journey from the parent Club at RMYC Rose Bay to Broken Bay.

The celebrations will continue on 17 October with the Grand 100 Year Opening of the Boating Season, expected to be one of the most memorable in the Club’s history. With special guests, a naval presence and a full program of festivities, the event will recognise both the Club’s past and the boating community that continues to shape its future.

As RMYC Broken Bay enters its next century, the Club is extending an invitation to boaters, families and social members to be part of its next chapter. Whether through time on the water, participation in one of its boating communities, or simply enjoying the facilities and views across Pittwater, the Club’s centenary year is designed to celebrate belonging as much as history.

After 100 years, RMYC Broken Bay is not simply looking back. It is using its centenary to reaffirm its place in the boating life of Pittwater, while setting a confident course for the next generation.
