The African Boating Conference have welcomed Fraser, one of the world’s leading full-service yacht brokerage houses, to this year’s programme, with Head of Charter Management Europe Lisa Airasca joining as a panellist to explore the future of yacht charter in Africa and what is required to position the continent as a competitive global cruising destination.

Taking place on 20–21 October at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, the conference will bring together international industry leaders, marina developers, government representatives and marine tourism stakeholders to unlock opportunities within Africa’s growing blue economy.

With an international network spanning yacht sales, charter management, yacht management and new construction, Fraser is recognised as one of the superyacht industry’s most respected brokerage firms. Its participation brings valuable international insight into what yacht owners, charter clients and brokers expect when considering emerging cruising destinations.

Representing Fraser, Airasca brings more than two decades of experience spanning charter management, yacht brokerage, marketing and events. As Head of Charter Management Europe, she oversees a global fleet of more than 50 superyachts and leads one of the industry’s most experienced charter management teams.

The charter discussion will examine both the opportunities and practical challenges facing Africa, including marina infrastructure, cruising regulations, customs procedures, provisioning, security perceptions, crew logistics and destination marketing. It will also consider how Africa can leverage its natural beauty, wildlife and diverse cultures to develop distinctive charter experiences and attract more yachts to its waters.

Maryanne Edwards, Marketing & Development Director of the African Boating Conference, advised: “We are delighted to welcome Fraser to this year’s African Boating Conference. As one of the world’s foremost superyacht brokerage and charter companies, Fraser brings a wealth of international expertise and market insight to the conversation around Africa’s charter potential. Their global perspective is invaluable as the industry explores how to unlock the significant opportunities that exist across the continent and position Africa as a compelling charter destination.”

Fraser’s participation builds on CEO Anders Kurten’s involvement in last year’s African Boating Conference, where he addressed the importance of aligning commercial success with environmental responsibility. His session, “Steering Toward Sustainability: Leading the African Boating Industry into a Greener Future”, explored practical strategies for reducing environmental impact while driving sustainable growth across the boating industry.

Kurten said: “At Fraser, we are always looking at destinations that can deliver exceptional experiences for our owners and charter clients. Africa represents one of the industry’s most exciting long-term opportunities. Last year’s conference gave us valuable insight into both the ambition and the momentum building across the region. Lisa’s participation reflects our commitment to continuing that dialogue and contributing our global charter expertise to the conversations shaping Africa’s future as a world-class cruising destination.”

The African Boating Conference provides a platform for international expertise and African leadership to come together to address the practical steps needed to grow the continent’s recreational marine and blue economy sectors.
