Klaveness Combination Carriers ASA (“KCC”) last week (15 September) celebrated the naming of MV Baltazar in Fremantle, Western Australia. The vessel is the third vessel in KCC’s third-generation CABU newbuild series, completing the current contracted program. She recently entered service following delivery from New Yangzi Shipyard in China.
The official naming ceremony brings together customers, partners, industry stakeholders, government representatives and international maritime media to mark the vessel’s arrival in Australia. The ceremony is attended by the Hon. Rita Saffioti MLA, Deputy Premier of Western Australia, who formally names the vessel as Lady Sponsor in accordance with maritime tradition.

Designed specifically for trades to and from Australia, MV Baltazar is an 83,300 DWT combination carrier capable of transporting liquid cargoes into Australia, while carrying dry bulk commodities on outbound voyages. Due to her trading, size and advanced energy efficiency measures including suction sails, MV Baltazar has the lowest carbon footprint of any vessel in these trades.
