Round 1 of the Expired Marine Flare Collection Program 2026/27 will be delivered from 6 to 22 November 2026 at key boating locations across NSW. The program provides a safe, simple, and environmentally responsible way for boaters to dispose of expired or unwanted marine flares free of charge.

Check it. Replace it. Dispose of it safely

  • Check the expiry date printed on your marine flares and replace any that have expired.
  • Bring expired or unwanted flares to a designated collection site during the program period.
  • It is recommended to check the collection schedule on the website before attending to confirm event times and locations.
  • Flares cannot be wet or damaged when handing them in at collection points.
  • For large quantities exceeding 10 kilograms or special cases, consult SafeWork NSW or a licensed explosives professional to determine the safest and lawful handling, transport and disposal approach.
