North east Vic boating

The weather and boating conditions were amazing over the Easter period for North East Victoria, and in particular for Lake Mulwala and parts of the Murray River. BIAV and industry members would have been proud to see all of the family activity and fun taking place across fishing, cruising, skiing, wake, houseboating, paddling, and more. We understand even, that a guy broke the world record for boating/floating 65km along the Murray in a dug out 298kg pumpkin! BIAV’s recent ‘roadshow’ took place at a similar time and it was great to see and here from industry members such as Leigh Martin Marine, Mark’s Marine, West City Marine, Wangaratta Caravans & Marine, McRae Boats, Mulwala Ski Club, Twin City Auto & Marine, and Yarrawonga Marine.

Pictured with BIAV CEO Steve Walker are, from Wangaratta Caravan and Marine, co-owner Kate Warton, and the brand new GM Darrian Field (first day on the job!). As well as Dallas Mack from McRae Boats (Malibu).

The 2024 Melbourne Boat Show is back, Thursday 17 October to Sunday 20 October, Docklands.

Young women in Trades & Tech Fit Career Expo

Boating Careers will be exhibiting at the Trades & Tech Fit career expo, hosted by the Victorian Department of Education and Training on May 8th – 9th, 2024. In collaboration with Mercury Marine, we will present an engaging display featuring a boat equipped with an additional engine for students to play with and perform pressure testing on. We would love to have some female industry representatives to join us at the stand. The boating industry aims to improve gender diversity and create a more inclusive environment for women, and your participation can help make a significant impact.

This inaugural event aims to highlight career opportunities within trades and technology industries, specifically targeting female students in years 9 and 10.

The expo will feature engaging activities and displays designed to showcase the diverse career pathways available in traditionally male-dominated sectors. By participating in this event, Boating Careers aims to inspire and inform young women about the exciting possibilities within the marine industry.

‘The Trades Fit’ expo aligns with National Careers Week and provides a valuable platform for students to connect with employers, industry organisations, and advocates of gender equity.

We are looking forward to engaging with attendees, and encouraging young women to consider rewarding careers in boating and related fields, and we need your help. If you have a female apprentice or are an influential female in the boating industry if you could please spend a few hours on the stand it would be greatly appreciated.

Email if you can assist.
