On Tuesday 6 May, the industry gathered to celebrate the best of the best in the 2025 Nautilus Marine Insurance Marina of the year awards.

In this series, we celebrate the those that were recognised as finalists and winners of each award.

Club of the Year

Winner – Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron.

Located on southern end of Manly Boat Harbour in Moreton Bay, approximately 30 mins to Brisbane CBD. Formed in 1885, the Squadron has a long history of sailing at all levels including an honour roll of Olympians and World Champions.

The club has a huge marina of nearly 600 berths, a further 200 on the hardstand and full-service boatyard.  It has extensive food & beverage operations and function facilities.  This is an impressive 5 Gold Anchor, Clean Marina and Fish Friendly club brilliantly well run by industry stalwart CEO Karen Baldwin and Marina Manager Glen Scott.

Highly Commended – Sandringham Yacht Club

Sandringham Yacht Club is located on Port Phillip in Melbourne. The club is comprised of a 360-berth marina, buildings including a clubhouse, concessions building housing tenants, dinghy facility, and marina head facilities including kiosk and change rooms.

Sandringham has 3000 members and a marina at 99% occupancy. The facility recently had an 8-year, $6 million refurbishment which included the marina entrance, fuel jetty, wave screen and breakwater. All giving longevity to the current facility. This impressive facility has a long history with the MIA including Clean Marina and Fish Friendly and is exceptionally well run by its CEO Richard Hewitt, a Certified Marina Professional (CPM).
