Dometic premieres new documentary A Silent Rebellion in Australia

Dometic embarks on the next chapter with Project Zero Earth: An Icelandic expedition that blends adventure with climate action. Experience the second installment of the inspiring journey of an Australian father and son as they champion bold, hands-on conservation and sustainable exploration.

Dometic, an expert in outdoor tech products, proudly announces the world premiere of A Silent Rebellion, the latest chapter of the Project Zero Earth expedition. Led by acclaimed Australian adventurers Dr. Geoff Wilson and his son Kitalé Wilson, Project Zero Earth is a multi-year expedition to the furthest reaches of the planet for promotion of climate awareness. With the help of Dometic products, the initiative explores the wonders of the natural world while documenting the urgent impacts of climate change, aiming to ignite real-world action through emotive, human storytelling.

A Silent Rebellion captures the Wilsons’ dramatic north-south crossing of Iceland – a journey marked by extreme weather, breathtaking landscapes, and the stark evidence of a warming planet. It is the fourth expedition Kitalé has undertaken alongside his father, reflecting their shared dedication to our planet’s future.

The film will debut globally on Saturday 3 May, at ExplorerFest, a new three-day festival in Hawks Nest, New South Wales celebrating adventure, nature, and community.

Dometic played a crucial role in enabling the expeditions with its reliable outdoor products designed to withstand extreme conditions. Expeditions like this demand unmatched skill and determination – qualities Geoff, Kitalé and their crew embody. What Dometic brings is trusted gear, including equipment that turned their vehicle into a mobile base camp, outfitted by its mobile cooling and cooking gear, as well as mobile power solutions.

‘We are excited to unveil the global premiere of A Silent Rebellion in Australia,’ said Peter Jannerö, Chief Marketing Officer at Dometic. ‘This project captures the essence of what we stand for. Our purpose is to empower more people to connect with nature and our products are crafted to thrive in the harshest of outdoor environments and withstand extreme elements. This unique durability not only supports everyday adventures but also enables important expeditions like Project Zero Earth.’

‘This isn’t just a film about exploration, it’s about shining a light on climate challenges,’ said Dr. Geoff Wilson, expedition leader and polar explorer. ‘A Silent Rebellion is our protest in motion, a refusal to accept the decline of the natural world. Iceland was brutal and beautiful, and it gave us a glimpse of what the world stands to lose. During the whole expedition, Dometic gear has once again held up in the very harshest of conditions.’

Adventurer and filmmaker, Kitalé Wilson, adds: ‘Every step across Iceland felt like we were walking through a warning. Glaciers disappearing, unpredictable storms…it was clear the planet is changing faster than we think. A Silent Rebellion isn’t just a story of adventure, it’s a wake-up call. It’s about recognising what’s happening to our world and choosing to act, no matter who you are or where you live. We all have a part to play in protecting what’s left.’

Dometic reaffirms its commitment to supporting sustainable exploration and elevating the conversation around climate resilience through powerful, purpose-driven stories like those of Geoff and Kitalé Wilson.

More about the Icelandic expedition route:

The expedition began on horseback, as Geoff and Kitalé move through the rolling hills and deep valleys of Northern Iceland, just inside the Arctic Circle. Travelling further into the interior, the lush greens give way to the stark and colourless backdrop of the Highlands.

At a Highland farm, Geoff and Kitalé hitch their horses and set off to summit and cross Vatnajökull Glacier using skis and kites. Vatnajökull, sitting atop eight volcanoes, represents the geographical and narrative climax of their expedition. Standing atop one of the world’s largest and fastest-receding glaciers, they feel its significance beneath their feet before quietly taking their leave.

Descending to the southern coast of Iceland, Geoff and Kitalé are greeted by dramatic black sand beaches and quaint fishing villages. This journey is a testament to outdoor skills, knowledge, physical and mental resilience. Awe and ambition.
