Sea.AI, the pioneer in artificial intelligence for maritime vision, is making significant strides toward next-generation situational awareness by integrating award-winning radar perception software, Tocaro Blue’s ProteusCore™, into its AI-driven navigation platform. The collaboration will dramatically enhance object detection, identification, and decision-making in all visibility conditions, delivering a new standard of safety for vessels worldwide.
In 2018, Sea.AI introduced the first onboard safety systems utilising machine vision technology, enabling operators to see more, understand more, and navigate with greater confidence. Building on a proprietary database of millions of annotated marine objects, Sea.AI is taking its multi-sensor fusion approach to the next level by combining high-resolution optical, thermal, AIS, and radar data into a single navigation interface.
Smarter Navigation Through AI-Powered Sensor Fusion
The combination of advanced radar perception with Sea.AI’s machine vision technology will improve distance estimation while providing 360-degree situational awareness in even the poorest conditions. With the integration of ProteusCore™, Sea.AI customers can visualise filtered and decluttered radar targets and unlock all-weather capability, providing unparalleled object and collision avoidance information presented in the Sea.AI camera interface.
Development is well underway, with availability targeted for Q4 2025 as a software upgrade for existing Sea.AI systems.
A New Era for Maritime AI
“Merging radar with optical and thermal vision will allow us to deliver a fully AI-enhanced safety system,” said Marcus Warrelmann, CEO of Sea.AI. “We are not just reading instruments. We are making them intelligent.”
“Tocaro Blue is proud to support Sea.AI’s mission of saving lives at sea by empowering their products with our advanced ProteusCore™ AI Radar Perception software. Combining radar and camera technologies creates powerful sensor fusion, significantly enhancing situational awareness for maritime operators. We’re excited to bring this innovative solution to market in collaboration with Sea.AI!” — John Minor, CEO of Tocaro Blue.
