Community feedback on the Little Street boat ramp safety trials is now available online.

The two-year safety trial restricted some boat launching during December and January. Motorised boats could not launch during daylight hours. They were permitted to launch at night during the trial. All other boat ramp uses were permitted.
The two-year trial was a recommendation in the MidCoast Recreational Boating Infrastructure Plan. The aim was to allow safe pedestrian access around the amenities, café and baths.
Overall, 73.5% of people who provided feedback support the trial. 75.5% say the area is safer because of the trial.
Support for the trials was higher for people who used the Little Street baths in December and January of both years. 84% supported the trial and 91% said the area was safer as a result.
“We heard during the trial that the closure has implications for some users of the ramp, including small watercraft launching. Council will consider all users in making a decision about any future restrictions for use of the ramp,” said Liam Bulley, Council’s Executive Manager Public Spaces.
