Perth Boat Show – if it’s not on your radar, it should be

The Australian recreational marine industry has always had its natural focal points. The east coast understandably attracts much of the national attention, with its concentration of population, major events, boat builders, dealers, distributors and suppliers. But from time to time, it is worth looking west and recognising where momentum is building.

The 2026 Perth Boat Show is one of those events that should be firmly on the industry’s radar.

Returning to the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre from Friday 4 to Sunday 6 September, the show will occupy all six pavilions and is shaping as one of its strongest presentations in recent years. With more than 90 exhibitors expected, more than 150 craft on display and a total value across the show floor of more than $50 million, the event has clearly continued to grow in scale, profile and industry relevance.

For marine businesses looking at where customers are engaging, where market interest is active and where recreational boating is being celebrated, Perth deserves attention.

Western Australia has long had a passionate boating community. Its coastline, waterways, fishing culture and outdoor lifestyle make boating a natural part of life for many families. The Perth Boat Show gives the industry a direct pathway into that market, bringing together boats, marine technology, accessories, equipment, services and lifestyle products in one accessible location.

Importantly, this is not simply a trailer boat show. While family friendly trailer boats will remain a key part of the event, the 2026 show will also demonstrate a broader market depth. Leading the presentation will be the new Bluegame BG54, making its first appearance at the show. At 54 feet, the BG54 brings a significant presence to the floor and provides a strong statement about the calibre and breadth of product now being presented in Perth.

That matters. For too long, some in the national industry may have viewed west coast events as useful, but secondary. The scale and mix of the 2026 Perth Boat Show suggests that view needs updating.

Across the three days, visitors will be able to explore the latest boats, high performance watercraft, marine equipment and services, while also taking part in a broader boating lifestyle experience. The Boat Shed Stage will host live demonstrations and Sea Safe sessions, designed to build skills and confidence on the water. Perth is OK! On Deck with Pete Curulli roaming the show floor, speaking with exhibitors and highlighting new products and innovations.

The show will also lean strongly into its family appeal. Little Nippers Cove will run free activities for children from 10am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday, giving families another reason to spend time at the event. The Skippers Bar, pop-up café, door prize draw and Friday evening session, with discounted entry from 3.30pm, will help create a relaxed and accessible show environment.

This year’s timing adds another useful ingredient. The final day of the show, Sunday 6 September, falls on Father’s Day and organisers are planning activities to help celebrate dads at the event. Families are being encouraged to bring Dad along for a day out, with attendees able to enter a weekend warrior prize pack giveaway and early arriving dads in line for some show-day freebies. A special Father’s Day family ticket will also be available.

For exhibitors, sponsors and marine businesses not already committed, the message is straightforward. This is a west coast event with increasing scale, a clear consumer audience and growing industry relevance. Prime positions are still available, but larger stands are now limited, with organisers expecting the show to sell out soon.

The Perth Boat Show runs from 9.30am to 7pm on Friday 4 September, and from 9.30am to 5pm on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September, at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.
