The organisers of the International BoatBuilders’ Exhibition and Conference (IBEX) have revealed that the event will transition to a December schedule beginning in 2027. This decision comes after feedback from the industry and recurring disruptions caused by the current October dates, which coincide with the Atlantic hurricane season.
The popular Tampa Convention Center will remain the venue for the event. The first IBEX under the new December timing will take place from December 7-9, 2027.
The change follows extensive discussions with industry stakeholders and exhibitors, who strongly supported the move as a way to enhance the event’s stability and reliability while also opening up new opportunities for growth, according to IBEX Show Director, Mary Velline.
“In recent years, hurricanes have caused disruptions and uncertainty for IBEX,” said Velline. “We listened carefully to the industry, and the December shift is ideal, allowing us to better serve our community by delivering a dependable, world-class event each year and ensuring the long-term success for our exhibitors.”
The new December schedule was developed in close partnership with IBEX co-owners RAI Amsterdam and the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA). Further details about the 2027 date change will be shared in the months ahead.
NMMA president and CEO, Frank Hugelmeyer said “Moving IBEX to December is both a necessary step and a strategic move to ensure the long-term vitality of the show. This new timing will give our exhibitors and attendees greater consistency and opportunity for growth year after year.”
