The Australian National Maritime Museum and the Royal Australian Navy have announced a major naming rights partnership to redevelop the Museum’s iconic Action Stations experience, a state-of-the-art exhibition space that will celebrate Australia’s naval legacy and future.
This redevelopment marks a significant milestone in the Museum’s mission to preserve and present the evolving story of Australia’s maritime defence.

The new pavilion will highlight the strategic, technological, and human dimensions of Australia’s naval operations, with a strong focus on the Indo-Pacific region and the innovations shaping the future of maritime defence.
‘This redevelopment is more than an exhibition, it’s a national platform for engagement and storytelling for the important role that the Navy plays in our region,’ said Ms Daryl Karp AM, Director and CEO of the Australian National Maritime Museum.
’We are proud to partner with the Royal Australian Navy to bring these stories to life and to invite the public into the heart of Australia’s maritime defence journey.’
Vice Admiral Mark Hammond AO RAN, Chief of Navy said, ‘The Royal Australian Navy is proud to partner with the Australian Maritime Museum and welcomes the opening of its new Navy pavilion. This dedicated space brings the history of the Royal Australian Navy to life, making it more accessible to more Australians.
‘The Navy pavilion honours the service and sacrifice of Navy officers and sailors at sea, safeguarding Australia’s national security and economic prosperity. It provides visitors with an opportunity to learn more about our maritime operations and the Australian ships, submarines and aircraft that have deployed across the world to render service in times of peace, competition, crisis and conflict.
‘The Royal Australian Navy is Australia’s Navy, and the sea is deeply intertwined with our national culture and identity. The Navy pavilion will connect more Australians to the story of their Navy, reminding us that Australia has always been a maritime nation.
‘The pavilion will feature immersive storytelling, interactive displays, and exhibitions that showcase shipbuilding, submarine design, advanced systems, and the critical role of the defence industry. It will also serve as a platform to inspire young Australians to explore careers in defence and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).’
Ms Karp continued, ‘Australia’s relationship with the ocean has shaped who we are. As an island nation, our future is tied to the oceans that surround us and Australia continues to be a key contributor to peace, prosperity, and resilience throughout the Indo-Pacific region.
‘The Museum invites corporate and industry partners to join in supporting this landmark initiative and help shape a dynamic space that honours the past, celebrates the present, and inspires the future of Australia’s naval story.’
