Whitworths Tackers Boat Program to return for 2026

Australian Sailing has announced that in conjunction with Whitworths Marine & Leisure and OziOpti that the hugely popular Whitworths Tackers Boat Program is set to return in 2026.

The Whitworths Tackers Boat Program has been a longstanding driver of junior participation, enabling Discover Sailing Centres (DSCs) to grow their programs by providing financial assistance for the purchase of Tackers vessels. Thanks to the ongoing partnership between Whitworths and OziOpti, clubs can access discounted boats and continue delivering high-quality introductory sailing experiences.

Interest from both new clubs launching Tackers programs and existing clubs expanding their fleets remained strong throughout last season. In addition to supporting boat purchases, Whitworths also assisted clubs in replacing old or damaged OziOpti sails, helping maintain safe and reliable equipment for young sailors across the country. Sail replacement is at the discretion of Whitworths and separate to the Tackers program.

The long-standing program saw another 50 boats delivered to Tackers fleets nationwide in the 2024/25 season, which takes the total number of discounted boats accessed to over 350 over the life of the program.

Whitworths Marine & Leisure’s continued commitment plays a vital role in giving more young people the opportunity to discover sailing at their local clubs and begin their lifelong connection with the sport.

Australian Sailing extends its sincere thanks to Whitworths and OziOpti for their ongoing support of a program that introduces hundreds of children to sailing on waterways around Australia.

Applications for the program will open in early 2026. Further details will be available here.
