When leaders of the boating industry unite for safer, smarter boat storage solutions, great things happen. Ahead of the summer boating season, Discover Boating Australia has partnered with key South East Queensland marinas to launch a region-wide Dry Stack Promotional Campaign to improve awareness of the benefits of dry stack storage, accessibility and promote responsible boating – a powerful example of when a sector bands together to support its community.

Pelican Waters Marina, d’Albora’s East Coast and Pacific Point Marinas, Redland City Marina, Runaway Bay Marina, and Scarborough Marina have all joined this campaign, committing to raising awareness of Dry Stack benefits across South East Queensland. With Discover Boating Australia leading this marketing initiative, the participating marinas have created a unified platform that connects boat owners with their nearest Dry Stack facility – making smart, secure storage easier to access than ever.
To bring the campaign to life, a purpose-built website page under Discover Boating Australia features clear and interactive resources to help the boating public understand the value of Dry Stack storage, alongside a simple quiz to match them with the right marina based on location and boating habits. This launch is just the start, with even more on the horizon – including informational YouTube videos, short-form social media content, and feature articles highlighting the people, lifestyle benefits, and marinas driving the campaign.
The Boating Industry Association (BIA) reported national industry turnover last year across recreational boating sectors of more than $10.2 billion, with around 35,000 people employed across more than 2,000 businesses. Marinas and boatyards form a valuable and vibrant sector, contributing $2.24 billion to the economy according to the Marina Industries Association. At a time where demand for on-water experiences continues to increase, this Dry Stack campaign presents an opportunity to maximise investment into the industry and strengthen long-term infrastructure.
BIA CEO Andrew Fielding said, “We are a lucky country when it comes to boating with so many fantastic waterways to explore and enjoy, which underpins a vibrant Blue Economy. BIA is delighted to provide its Discover Boating Australia initiative to support this promotion because Dry Stacks offer excellent care and protection of your precious boat and the convenience of being launched and ready for you when needed.”

Pelican Waters Marina’s Les Binkin said, “As an active marina designer/operator and MIA director operating Dry Stack facilities, it’s exciting to collaborate with other marinas to deliver a consistent, positive message to the 75,000 registered boat owners in SEQ about the advantages of Dry Stack Storage. This type of vessel storage takes many of the pain points out of boating – through walk-on, walk-off vessel use, including motor flushing, vessel wash down, secure storage… even getting back your driveway at home, by letting Dry Stack Storage facilities look after you and your vessel’s needs.”
Suzanne Davies, CEO of Marina Industries Association added, “New generations of boat owners have more commitments and less time than in years gone by. Marinas offering dry stack storage options have services and support on hand that can take any hassle out of boat ownership, leaving boat owners to enjoy more time on the water with their friends and families. Marinas also offer facilities that enhance the boating experience such as easy pick up and drop off points, access to fuel and provisions, as well as cafes, restaurants and bars to enjoy after a day on the water.”
At the heart of this strategic Dry Stack Campaign is a unified effort to bring key stakeholders together and highlight the value of marine infrastructure to support responsible boat ownership and participation. With vessel registrations continuing to rise, dry storage has become a feature of best-practice marina planning and a valuable storage option to help future-proofing capacity across the sector. From its initial rollout, this initiative will help shape long-term planning industry-wide and support the marinas involved by increasing visibility and awareness of their Dry Stack services across South East Queensland.
