Volunteer crews from Marine Rescue Shoalhaven and Jervis Bay completed a joint assist earlier this week (Tuesday) after two anglers capsized off Currarong at the Banks near Jervis Bay.

The anglers were thrown into the water when their runabout was swamped by several larger waves and overturned. Thankfully, a nearby vessel quickly spotted them and pulled them out of the water.
Marine Rescue NSW Inspector Stuart Massey said rescue vessels Jervis Bay 41 and Shoalhaven 30 responded.
“Our crews checked the welfare of the anglers and transferred them safely onto the rescue vessel, while the capsized boat, which was a navigational hazard, was secured at the request of NSW Police Marine Area Command.
“The anglers were uninjured and very grateful to the recreational boaters who assisted them initially and to our volunteer crews who returned them safely to shore,” Inspector Massey said.
Marine Rescue NSW is a volunteer based not-for-profit professional organisation dedicated to keeping boaters safe on the water and supporting local communities.
