Seventy years, thousands of boats, and generations of stories from sea to shore — The Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show is marking a major milestone in 2026, celebrating seven decades at the heart of New Zealand’s boating and fishing community.
Returning to Auckland Showgrounds from 14–17 May, this year’s show isn’t just about what’s new — it’s a nod to where it all began, and the people who’ve made it what it is today.
Since first launching in the 1950s, the show has grown alongside New Zealand’s deep connection to the water — from humble tinny beginnings to today’s high-tech rigs, and from weekend fishos to serious offshore adventurers. For many Kiwis, it’s been a rite of passage: a place to dream, upgrade, yarn and plan the next trip out.
To mark the 70-year anniversary, visitors can expect:
- A curated display of classic and heritage vessels, showcasing how far boating in New Zealand has come
- A one off, Boat Show Movie Theatre, showing historic footage that celebrate the stories, boats and moments that shaped the show
- Special anniversary prizes and giveaways, celebrating the loyal community that has supported the show over the decades
- A strong focus on the people behind the pastime— the boaties, fishers, families and industry who’ve shaped the culture
