Horizon Yachts Launches Custom Designed FD80

Debuting on the Australian market, the latest FD80 features a custom interior design by Cor D. Rover.

A new Horizon FD80 has hit the water. The most successful model in the builder’s popular high-volume Fast Displacement (FD) Series of motor yachts, the FD80 balances style and space with superyacht amenities. Each FD Series build is unique and this latest FD80 is no exception. Boasting a four-stateroom layout with an on-deck master suite and a split-use skylounge, the new FD80 features a custom interior by the FD Series’ architect, renown Dutch designer Cor D. Rover.

Curves and rounded shapes define the interior style of the new FD80. The main deck offers a spacious aft deck with a large dining table for eight and walk around side decks. The open-plan interior layout sees a spacious living area accompanied by a multi-functional interior dining space that features a convertible dining/breakfast table to starboard. Balanced by light grey oak woodwork, bright whites are complemented by gold accents while curved elements are echoed from the overhead design and arch-shaped accent lighting to the curved walls and furniture. Furnishings and accents by Australian firm ABI Interiors round out the soft minimalist look.

Forward of the salon area, the open galley features a center island of Hermitage Cambria quartz with a sit-up bar counter and three bar chairs. An electric drop-down panel separates the island and most of the galley view from the salon when desired. The master suite spans the full beam of the forwardmost section of the main deck and is highlighted by a light grey oak headboard featuring a backlit half moon panel of metal and lacquer. The gracious space comfortably accommodates an independent vanity and chair to starboard. A honeycomb skylight with an electric Oceanair blind over the bed provides additional natural light and visual interest to the space, which is further accented by fluted glass wardrobe doors and hidden lighting within the wall molding.

Accessed from the lower foyer highlighted by reeded panels, three ensuite staterooms are positioned on the lower deck and comprise mirrored VIPs amidships and a forward VIP in the bow. This forward stateroom features rotating beds that can be joined to form a queen or separated as two twins depending on guest needs. A full laundry room equipped with a washer, dryer and ironing board complete the accommodations.

Aft of the engine room housing the yacht’s twin MTU 10V2000 1,600hp engines, crew quarters for four open aft to the beach club and Hi/Lo swim platform with a 680kg lifting capacity.

In addition to the FD Series’ high-volume interior layout, deck areas are spacious and well-planned. Forward of the enclosed wheelhouse, which features three helm chairs, a raised dinette and control panel with Garmin navigation package and CZone monitoring system, the forward bow area is fitted with a U-shaped dinette and sunpads.

The split-use skylounge and bridge deck aft will undoubtedly be the most used space aboard the new FD80. Protected by the yacht’s hardtop and opening windows to either side, the covered area features a full bar with three bar stools, a pull-out Teppanyaki grill station and a fold-down 43” television to starboard. To port, a sumptuous U-shaped sofa is accompanied by a dining table that can expand to suit the number of guests. At the center of the deck, a heated Jacuzzi features its own bar counter with stools while freestanding furniture creates a convivial socializing space furthest aft when the tender is deployed. This exterior area is shaded by outdoor awnings for maximum comfort.

“We are delighted to welcome another Cor D. Rover Signature Series design to our market,” says Horizon Yacht Australia director Mark Western. “The modern interior styling of this new FD80 showcases the luxurious finishes available in the FD Series, while the abundant use of curves is testament to Horizon’s craftsmanship and customization capability.”

This stunning new FD80 will be available for inspections in December. For a tour, please email Horizon Yacht Australia .
