YANMAR’S Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) solution for the 6LY Series is an advanced active emissions control technology system that reduces emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) down to near-zero levels.
Paired with the compact, effcient 6LY common rail engine, it meets and exceeds a range of emissions regulations across the globe.
The 6LY SCR IMO Tier 3 solution reflects YANMAR’s commitment to a more sustainable future.
Recently announced, YANMAR Marine has introduced its new and innovative Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system, designed to cut emissions for a range of vessels.
This new system meets the International Maritime Organisation’s (IMO) Tier III standards, amongst other regulations from around the world, with a 60-90% reduction in NOx.
Although this new SCR system has been designed for commercial and light-duty commercial vessels operating in emissions control waters, it is also be perfectly suited to leisure boats from 24m in length for more sustainable boating.
The current SCR system has been designed to suit the YANMAR 6LY range of engines (400-440hp), and uses a number of sensors to measure temperature and NOx. The system then calculates the amount of diesel exhaust fluid that is required to mix and bind with the NOx which then reduces the amount of NOx emissions being released.
The new YANMAR SCR system has been designed to be small and as light as possible, making it ideal for retrofitting to existing engines. The entire system weighs just 86kg, and is significantly smaller than other available SCR systems on the market.
