Haines Hunter Confirms Manufacturing Restart Following Factory Fire

Haines Hunter has provided an update following the fire at its manufacturing facility two weeks ago, confirming that production will recommence as early as the coming week.

The decision to reinstate operations reflects a clear and considered commitment by Managing Director John Haber and Co-Director Leanne Haber to the future of the iconic Australian boat-building brand and the broader marine industry.

“It will take more than a fire to stop us moving forward. We are Haines Hunter — an iconic Australian brand, proudly supporting Australian manufacturing and the marine industry. I can’t simply walk away from that.” - John Haber, Haines Hunter Managing Director

Mr Haber went on to explain that the decision was driven by responsibility to people and industry alike.

“There are lives and livelihoods that we must continue to support. Our staff have families, children with school fees, and mortgages to meet. Our suppliers depend on our business, and we play an integral role within the marine industry. We have a responsibility to do everything we can to keep Australian manufacturing alive.”

In the aftermath of the fire, the Haines Hunter team has demonstrated exceptional resilience, unity, and determination. The past two weeks have seen staff working together with a shared purpose, turning an unexpected and challenging event into a positive step forward for the business.

Haines Hunter would like to formally acknowledge and thank the many suppliers who came forward immediately to assist, along with industry partners and individuals who contributed to the recovery effort. Their support has enabled the business to progress through a complex recovery program in a remarkably short timeframe.

The company also extends its sincere appreciation to its dealer network and customers for their patience, encouragement, and unwavering support, which has further motivated the team to recommence operations as quickly and safely as possible.

Mr Haber said the experience has reinforced the values behind the Haines Hunter brand.

“This process has reminded us what Haines Hunter truly stands for — not only the boats we build, but the people, the legacy, and the responsibility we carry as an Australian manufacturer.”

Haines Hunter also acknowledges the support and cooperation of relevant authorities, who have recognised the rapid progress made in site clean-up, equipment reinstatement, and the mobilisation of staff to rebuild areas affected by the fire.

The company can further confirm that boats already in assembly at the time of the incident, and not impacted by the fire, will be completed and prepared for delivery from next week.

Haines Hunter looks forward to continuing its contribution to Australian manufacturing and the marine industry, supported by its dedicated team, loyal dealers, valued suppliers, and customers nationwide.
