Trinity Point – A haven well worth waiting for

I had the pleasure of visiting Trinity Point some years ago and vividly recall the beauty and serenity of the place. More than that, its position on the shores of Lake Macquarie immediately struck me as a brilliant haven for boaters.

Less than two hours by road from the Sydney CBD, Trinity Point is once again receiving the attention it deserves from people considering a permanent waterside lifestyle or simply a second retreat that remains comfortably within reach of Sydney. And its appeal should not be limited to Sydneysiders. For interstate buyers and visitors, the broader Central Coast, Lake Macquarie and Hunter region continues to demonstrate just how much lifestyle, boating and natural beauty can be found within a relatively compact part of NSW.

At the centre of Trinity Point’s next chapter are major plans by Johnson Property Group.

A revised development application is currently on public exhibition for the Morisset Park waterfront site, proposing 172 hotel rooms and 131 residential apartments across six curved towers. The design also proposes modest increases in building height, allowing for shallower basement excavation, together with revised parking arrangements.

Beyond the numbers, however, it is the vision for the site that makes Trinity Point particularly interesting.

Johnson Property Group describes the next evolution of the precinct as including a five-star hotel, luxury apartments, wellness facilities and world-class dining, building on a destination that already has some of its most important ingredients in place.

For boaters, the marina is naturally a major drawcard. Trinity Point Marina gives the precinct a genuine connection to Lake Macquarie rather than simply a view of it. The existing 8 at Trinity restaurant, positioned overlooking the marina, has also helped establish the location as somewhere people can arrive, dine and enjoy the waterfront rather than merely pass through.

That combination is important. Successful boating destinations tend to work best when the marina is part of a broader experience: somewhere owners, families and guests can stay, eat, relax and spend time ashore without losing the connection to the water that brought them there in the first place.

When the broader Trinity Point vision is realised, that proposition could become considerably stronger. Hotel accommodation would provide another reason for visitors to stay longer, while residential apartments would add a permanent population with a direct interest in the waterfront lifestyle. Wellness, hospitality and dining facilities would further broaden the appeal beyond boating alone, creating the potential for a genuine destination resort atmosphere.

Lake Macquarie City Council has described the proposal as one of the most significant developments in the city’s history, noting its potential to support local jobs, attract visitors and contribute to economic activity.

Importantly, the revised proposal remains subject to the planning and assessment process, with the current plans on public exhibition until 4 September.

There is still a journey ahead before the full vision becomes reality, but Trinity Point has something that cannot be manufactured: an exceptional natural setting on one of Australia’s great recreational waterways.

For those contemplating a permanent move, a holiday base or simply somewhere special to escape to with the boat, Trinity Point may well be a haven worth waiting for.
