Description

This is a leadership role based in NSW primarily focused on the Australian Sailing (AS) / NSW Institute of Sport (NSWIS) program. The role will also have another function in either providing supplementary coaching to the program or supporting the national program in a coach development capacity.

The successful candidate will play a key part in managing AS’s partnership with NSWIS in working with coaches and AS/NSWIS staff to optimise the daily training, camps, and regatta environments for NSWIS athletes. This individual will also play a critical role in ensuring that Sailing’s performance pathway is visible to all key stakeholders in the pre-emerging areas (e.g., clubs, parents, and class associations). The role will also monitor and support the identification, confirmation, and progression of youth talent towards the performance pathway in NSW, promoting good practice athlete and coach development while ensuring the system can clearly demonstrate progression and areas for development.

Principle Accountabilities

In alignment with the NSW State Sailing Pathway Program (SSPP) objectives and strategy, primary responsibilities of the NSW Program Lead include (but are not limited to):

  • Lead the NSWIS SSPP planning, delivery, and monitoring/review of the NSWIS SSPP including:
    • Program planning, delivery and review aligned to AS strategy in collaboration with the PP Management Team and NSWIS.
    • Drive and monitor the development of NSW athletes demonstrating progression aligned to our athlete development framework .
    • Athlete selection, planning, inductions and monitoring (Campaign/IDPs) etc. – AST through to identified potential training partners as required.
    • Coaching planning, delivery, and development support aligned to IDPs while supporting succession planning (including contract coaches).
    • Collaborative SSSM delivery aligned to athlete development framework with regular reporting to foster integration and tracking of progression.
    • Budget, in collaboration with Performance Pathways Coordinator prepare, manage, and review the NSWIS program budget.
  • Lead stakeholder management plan to support building and maintain relationships with, but not limited to the following stakeholders:
    • Our program partner NSWIS.
    • Work closely with the state pathways coordinator to identify and connect with key clubs in NSW.
    • Parents and athletes that demonstrate future potential SSPP inclusion.
    • AS GMs and program managers where required.
  • Undertake administrative responsibilities, including regular progress reports and operational/logistics meetings with AS, NSWIS or performance pathways staff in the timelines required.
  • Participate in regular AST and/or AS Performance Pathway Team Meetings via video conference and/or in person where required.
  • Work with relevant Performance Pathway staff to produce and action an agreed professional development plan (IDP).
  • Work closely with the state pathways coordinator to support agreed underpinning camps, key youth regattas and/or other initiatives, aimed at strengthening and developing the pathway toward performance programs e.g. Any #Nextgen activity
  • Attend and actively participate in identified sailing initiatives across the state to aid athlete and coach development within the underpinning club and class association network and inform talent identification for future NSWIS SSPP selections.
  • Adhere to AS/NSWIS values and behaviours while operating within their environment.
  • Adhere AS/NSWIS policies and guidelines and report any breaches to relevant bodies.
  • Support the maintenance of all supplied equipment to the NSWIS program.

Potential Role Inclusion:

  • Provide on water coaching support for NSWIS SSPP athletes and training partners in the local training environments, scheduled training camps, and at major state and national regattas as per agreed plan, or
  • Support the Performance Pathways Team in the provision of coach development to our performance pathway coaches aligned to our Next Level Coach Development Framework

About the Opportunity

MRNSW now has an exciting opportunity for a Fleet Administration Officer to join their team based in Cronulla, New South Wales.

Reporting to the Senior Manager – Fleet and liaising with Zone teams, the Fleet Administration Officer will work across the whole Marine Rescue organisation. This critical role will support MRNSW fleet operations by administering the systems around sourcing, and managing frontline rescue vessels and vehicles, ensuring they are fit for purpose. The successful candidate will also be responsible for ensuring that all vessels and vehicles comply with regulatory and policy requirements.

  • Supporting MRNSW fleet modernisation and vessel replacement programs

Purpose of role

To work as part of a team to ensure that all QYC Vessels are maintained to the highest standard at all times.

Duties and responsibilities

Reporting to the National General Manager Club Support, the General Manager – Western Australia is primarily focused on providing efficient and effective support to affiliated Clubs and Class Associations in their State. High Performance Operations & Logistics Manager

Reporting to the High Performance (HP) Director, the HP Operations & Logistics Manager is responsible for the operational logistics and administration of the Australian Sailing’s HP program with the goal of delivering world leading program support that best position Gold medal performances at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and in building a sustainable medal winning system. The HP program includes both the Australian Sailing Team (AST) and Australian Sailing Squad (ASS).

As a member of the HP program’s Management Team, the HP Operations & Logistics Manager will work in close collaboration with the Technical Director, Performance Pathways Manager, Innovation & Technology Manager, Performance Support Manager and HP Director.

Principle Accountabilities

HP Program Administration

  • The provision of leadership, management, campaign planning and coordination support services to AST and ASS level athletes, coaches, and national staff
  • At the request of the HPD, produce reports regarding the AST/ASS Program and overarching AS HP program.
  • Gather all pertinent information and complete all required forms and submissions for performance partners and World Sailing.
  • Ensure that all information regarding AST/ASS athletes is kept up to date and appropriately accessible (i.e. Anti-Doping Whereabouts, etc.)
  • Facilitate the development of HP documents (i.e. Athlete Agreements, Selection Criteria, operational forms, etc.)
  • Facilitate planning and program co-ordination with key members of Performance Pathways Team.
  • Facilitate communications amongst AST/ASS athletes, coaches, national staff, performance partners and volunteers.
  • Oversee the development of budgets for individual class/crew campaigns, camps, competitions, and general AST/ASS athlete/coach domestic and international travel.

  • Supervise the financial records of the AST/ASS program.
  • Assist AS staff wherever possible at AS run events.
  • Oversee and assist AS’s HP Program Coordinator, Operations & Logistics Coordinator, Rules Advisor and Project Officer.
  • Oversee the purchase and sale of AST training and racing equipment in accordance with the approved budget.
  • Prepare and submit a budget for National Training Centre (NTC) and AST capital expenditures (purchase and sale of equipment), annual equipment repair and provide progress report.
  • Oversee and assist with program, materials and partnerships to support the orientation of athletes into AS’s HP system.

Australian Sailing Team (AST) & Squad

  • Oversee all AST/ASS campaign planning and logistics regarding accommodation, food, and transportation for domestic and international training camps and competitions.
  • Direct and lead the HP Coordinators in assisting AST/ASS athletes/coaches with preparations required for camps at the NTC and any other approved locations.
  • Act as the administrative liaison point person for the AST Coaches and AST/ASS Athletes.
  • When feasible, travel with the AST/ASS to training camps and competitions providing logistical support while on tour.
  • Coordinate the AST/ASS’s equipment needs relating to AS’s suppliers and sponsors.
  • Manage and oversee a uniform and clothing strategy for the HP Program.
  • Ensure that AST/ASS entry forms for benchmark events (i.e. World Sailing and Olympic Games) are completed and forwarded to regatta organizing committees.

Team Environment & Culture

  • NTC management: including operations, management of assets and equipment.
  • In close collaboration with the Technical Director, create and manage an effective performance environment in Marseille for the Paris 2024 Olympic Sailing Team that enables optimal performance and delivers medal success
  • Proactive contribution and strategic advice to the HP Management Team on all HP program related matters
  • Consistently display and uphold AS values and the AST athlete initiated 5Rs: Resourcefulness, Respect, Resilience, Responsibility, & Results.
  • In close collaboration with the Technical Director, oversee AST operations at key targeted events, including Olympic Games and Combined World Championships, Test Events (and other regattas as/where required)

Stakeholder & Membership Relations

  • Attract, retain, develop, and manage world class people/team, planning and processes at gold medal standards (in partnership with the HPD and Technical Director)
  • Direct and lead the HP Coordinators to ensure full and appropriate logistics are in place for all HP operations
  • Assist national coaches to provide an effective European training and competition environment and DTE/camps for our AST/ASS sailors balancing performance preparation, health, and risk
  • Co-create and manage on-the ground international travel protocols including critical incident management (pivoting where required)
  • In collaboration with national coaches and national pathway manager, establish effective LA 2028 ‘bridging’ programs for targeted medal classes to retain and accelerate athlete development
  • In consultation with key staff, manage AST/ASS selection processes, Olympic Selection, athlete agreements and campaign/crew budget allocations in consultation with the HPD.
  • Effective management and coordination of the Athlete Advisory Group.
  • Financially manage and monitor the HP operations budget in consultation with HPD, Technical Director and CFO.
  • Maintain purposeful partnerships and effective relationships with priority international sailing HP professionals, key external partners, the HP Management Team and other AS staff that provide enabling services to the HP program.

This is a technical coaching role based in QLD for the ‘new’ classes (those new to the Olympic program in 2024). The role will have a development focus in the Kitefoil, iQFoil and their associated pathway classes. The successful candidate will work with categorised QAS athletes in daily training, camps and regatta environments. The role will also monitor and support the identification. Confirmation and progression of youth talent towards the performance pathway in QLD. The QLD New Classes (Foil) Coach will be supported as part of our Performance Pathway coach group, aligned to our ‘Next Level Coach Development’ framework. Executing and agreed professional development plan will be an important part of progressing in this role.

Principle Accountabilities

In alignment with the QAS SSPP program objectives and strategy, primary responsibilities of the QLD New Classes (Foil) Coach include:

  • Provide on water coaching support for QAS SSPP athletes in the local training environment, scheduled training camps and at major state and national regattas.
  • Drive and monitor the development of QLD youth pathway classes via talent ID and direct coaching at association/AS youth events.
  • Create and action robust training, regatta and review plans (to be agreed with QLD Head Coach).
  • Work closely with the AS national coordinator\AST coaches of the Kite and Windfoil classes to support planning and integration.

Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing and Communications Coordinator is responsible for implementing Australian Sailing’s marketing and communications strategy. This will be achieved through the creation and distribution of engaging and targeted content to support Clubs, Class Associations, participation programs, Australian Sailing events and member services and includes reporting on digital activity including websites and social networks.

Principle Accountabilities

Marketing and Communications:

Contributes to the development and delivery of the marketing and communications plan for Australian Sailing to engage with Clubs, Class Associations, members and key stakeholder groups.

Executes the marketing and communications plan to encourage participation in sailing and other Australian Sailing activities.

Schedules and produces regular e-newsletter campaigns to support programs of Australian Sailing.

Website and Social Media:
